Our Story
Butterfly Farms has been home to the Hardy family for nearly 25 years. Once a derelict, neglected piece of land, the farm and its homestead has been lovingly restored over the years. With 15 000 litchi trees – many of them rare varietals - the farm specialises in the harvesting of this sweet fruit for the export market, as well as the production of mangoes for juice and atchar.
An oasis of tranquility and natural beauty, Butterfly Farms is home to a variety of majestic birds such as the Crowned Eagle, and wild animals including Leopard, Bushbuck, Mountain Reed Buck, Kudu and other small common mammals. 170 Nguni cattle roam the mountains, that teem with over 160 different species of butterflies after which the farm is named, including the rare Red Duke Butterfly.
We are privileged to own this special piece of Africa, and hope to share the beauty of its bounty through our all-natural, homemade products.
